The PACA Sea Cluster has formed a work group with the Brittany Sea Cluster, the Major Groups, SMEs and universities, to respond to the ANR’s Call for Expression of Interest as part of the “Technology Transfer” action of the future investments programme. This CEI, which preceded the calls for projects for the creation of Technological Research Institutes (TRI), closed on 10 September 2010. The PROMARE TRI targets issues in the areas of global security of states, property and people in the sea and in coastal areas, preservation of the quality of the marine environment and protection of biodiversity in coastal and oceanic ecosystems.PROMARE will facilitate access to complex information systems, operational sensor networks, test facilities, databases, calculation capacities, modelling and simulations, for various research laboratories and industrial companies involved in maritime security and sustainable development. These resources will mainly be based at the centre of the Sea Technopole, a structuring project of the Toulon agglomeration. The formation of this scientific, academic and industrial community will encourage the emergence of ambitious projects and training courses leading to qualifications, with a focus on promising new markets.
