This project Beachmed-e (2005/2008 - Interreg III C South) is the largest European research project applied the coastal area which combines 47 public scientific institutes. It is a research program focused on using new technologies to achieve a regular and accurate monitoring of the coastline, and the development of new methods of coastal management, considering both the size dimensions of natural and socio economic-that space.

The department of Herault and 14 research institutions or the most important are the EID Mediterranean BRLi the CETMEF and universities of Montpellier, Perpignan and Pau.
