SAFE AND QUICK UNDERWATER INTERVENTION DEVICE
Project leader :
ACSA
Industrial partner :
LHERTIER
Research partners :
IFREMER and CNRS/INSU
Budget:
2 688 k € over 30 months funded by the FUI and local communities. Starting the project in summer 2010.The intervention on accidents, shipwrecks, loss of valuable equipment at sea is dangerous products ... so far conducted by sequential deployment of different ways: Sonar, ROV and / or gear inhabited. They are used for specialized vessels. They require a very large amount of material, sometimes very heavy. The problem is identical when it comes to scientific missions with joint deployment of ROVs and AUVs. In the field of environmental monitoring, mapping of sites and monitoring stations submarine measures also require the sequential use of ROVs and AUVs.
The project objective is to develop SQUID technologies that will allow pooled using a reconfigurable device for different types of response operations in the deep sea. These developments will equip partners with unique tools that allow them to confirm their advance on these major markets.
The technologies developed will be integrated into two sections "payload" that allow an AUV to Ifremer's existing operating alone in two phases, simply by changing Section:
1) Pre-locating and mapping of the area working independently: This phase included the location of a sound marker and high resolution optical mapping of the area
2) Intervention on the area so remote operated: This phase will allow an operator to operate the craft area "transformed in the OCS" by adding a fiber optic umbilical very small cross section and side thrusters , for the assistance of sampling or recovery equipment.
